Band Bookings

In a band and want to play at The Haygate?

Then read the following...

Step 1: Be Old Enough

The Haygate is not an over 18's venue but the minimum age is 14. This applies to bands as well as the general public. Also since the change in the law, if you are under 16 you must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged over 18, so if your little brother or sister wants to come and see your band and aged 13, then this is not possible. We will not risk our licence and our jobs for this. If your band meets this requirement then move to step 2.

Step 2: Find some Bands (Read This Bit Carefully)

At present The Haygate does not have a specific promoter so we are unable to put individual bands together to form a night's line up, however what we do is let your band become the promoter and you run the night.

If you need to either find a couple of support bands or a headline to make a line up and seeing as most bands know other bands this is quite easy. If you need help finding other bands or want to post a message that your band is looking to play here then visit local website LOCAL BANDS. All this might sound a bit daunting but this is how most bands do it, if other bands can do it why cant yours?

Step 3: Decide on a Date

Find out what available dates we have by phoning or emailing us. Best to have a few options ready including Wednesdays & Thursdays as this is our quieter time for bands so its easier to fit you in, and we will not just put on bands on a Friday or Saturday without hearing them first.

Step 4: Decide if you Need our P.A.

We will need to know in advance if you need to use our P.A. equipment. What we mean by P.A. is mics, stands, leads, monitor, & sound engineer. Just before you ask, NO is the answer to "Can we use our sound engineer". Our sound engineer is in charge of all the P.A. gear but is willing to work with you on sound levels etc. THIS IS NOT A BACK LINE and any band playing here needs to supply there own back line.

The cost of using the P.A. varies. Wednesday & Thursday gigs where there is a door charge, 25% of the total is what will be required to use the P.A.

PLEASE NOTE: On mid week gigs, bands will not get paid by The Haygate. The only money you will get is from on the door even if this is only £2 or £200.

If there is no door charge then there is no P.A. charge.

Friday gigs are different. Charging £2 on the door will cost £30 to use the P.A. & £3 charge will cost £50 for the P.A.

Step 5: Contact us

So you have your bands of which ALL members are over 14, you have few dates in mind and you know if you want our P.A. then send us an email or give us a ring. We will then get in contact with you ASAP and try to fit you in. Its good at this point as well to give us some background information on the bands that are going to perform on the night, websites, type of music, if they have fit lovely single women in them etc. (I have also been told by the female staff here I should ask if they have any fit single men as well)

Step 6: Times

We don't have a problem with bands arriving at any time to setup their gear but there is absolutely NO SOUND CHECKING before 7pm. This includes tuning up, testing amps & drums etc.

The sound engineer will be available from 7.30pm and no earlier.

All bands MUST BE FINISHED by 11:45pm and no later on Wed & Thurs & by 12.30am on Fri.
